Job Details

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Mainframe Developer to join our technical team supporting JPMorgan Chase in Wilmington, DE. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in COBOL, IMS, DB2, and related mainframe technologies, with exposure to modern integrations such as REST APIs and cloud platforms being a plus. You will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing mainframe applications that are integral to the bank’s operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, test, and deploy high-performance mainframe applications and batch processes.

Write and maintain COBOL programs and components, leveraging IMS/DC and DB2 databases.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver business-critical features and enhancements.

Utilize mainframe tools and utilities such as File-AID, Expeditor, REXX, SORT, and SAS for debugging and data manipulation.

Work on service integrations including CICS Web Services and possibly REST APIs.

Analyze complex technical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.

Ensure application performance, security, scalability, and maintainability.

Participate in Agile ceremonies such as stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.

Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications and operational procedures.

Contribute to application modernization efforts and explore integration with cloud technologies where applicable.

 

Required Qualifications:

5–10 years of professional experience in mainframe development.

Proficient in COBOL, JCL, IMS, DB2, and CICS.

Strong knowledge of mainframe utilities (File-AID, Expeditor, REXX, SORT, SAS).

Experience with full software development lifecycle (SDLC) in large enterprise environments.

Ability to debug complex code and conduct thorough unit and system testing.

Familiarity with REST API development and integration is a plus.

Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
